Dreams & Determination With Kathy Ireland
She’s been called many things: businesswoman, author, CEO, entrepreneur, supermodel, “super mogul,” designer and
American success story. For Kathy Ireland, the greatest title she holds is “mom.”
“Everything I do, all of my hard work, achieving my dreams, it’s all for my children,” she says. “ They’re my motivation, and they see that anything is possible.”
“I have always believed that if you dream it, you can do it.” – Kathy Ireland
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Calif., Kathy began her career as a businesswoman early, with a neighborhood newspaper route. When a customer told her she was doing a “boy’s job,” it only made her more determined. “I’m grateful to him,” Kathy says. “There were times when I wanted to quit, but I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.”
Kathy’s determination hasn’t changed. After achieving superstardom as a model, she pushed further to become a household name. She launched her enterprise with a line of socks in 1993, growing into Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a global empire of branded products that bear her name. “I have always believed that if you dream it, you can do it,” she says.
Guided by a dedicated faith, Kathy uses her success as a way to improve the lives of others, both at home and away.
Through her corporation, she supports a host of nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping impoverished women and children in Haiti and all around the globe. “I want all moms to be able to have what they need in order to do the best for their children, and to protect them,” says Kathy. “Being in Haiti was one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking adventures of my life.”
Still, it is at home with her husband Gregory and her three children, Erik, Lily, and Chloe, where her dreams have really come true. “My family is my everything. they are my dreams come true.”
